Tasting book #3 - Château La Cabanne

For this issue, travel to the castle La Cabanne that I had the great pleasure of visiting last September. François Estager had planned a very nice vertical highlighting the even years from 2012 to 2022. An exciting and very informative tasting where you can feel the philosophy and evolution of the wines of the property over the years.

• Vintage 2022 - 94/100

Elegant, fine and full of freshness, the nose reveals its intense notes of black and red fruits mixed with subtle floral notes and a very delicate woody. A silky, refined mouth attack with a nice volume and an expressive aroma. A wine with a beautiful structure, especially thanks to fine, flexible tannins, which are accompanied by a fine tension. The finish is balanced, fresh and with a nice persistence.

• 2020 Vintage - 93+/100

Fine nose, racy and expressive, we discover its wonderful bouquet of black and red fruits, mixed with fine notes of liquorice, pepper, as well as a floral character full of elegance and a well-melted woody. In the mouth, it is silky, seductive, with complexity and depth where the fruit radiates purity. Beautiful structure brought by a straight tannic weave and full of finesse, accompanied by a fresh acidity. Finish that harmoniously blends freshness and length.

• Vintage 2018 - 93/100

Rich, complex nose with depth notes of black fruits, spices with a touch of cocoa, a hint of mushroom; the truffle appears gradually. On the palate, it is ample, dense, opulent without being exuberant, with a beautiful aromatic richness. The tannins are round, elegant and constitute the whole structure of the wine. The fine final acidity brings freshness and balance. Persistent finish full of charm.

• Vintage 2016 - 93/100

Nose typical of the vintage, fresh, deep and complex, you can easily perceive notes of cherry, blackberry, with fine notes of cocoa and subtle notes of truffles that bring considerable elegance. In the mouth, it is silky, brilliant of precision and aromatic purity, with a remarkable structure. The tannins are round, fine and are supported by a fine tension that gives it its freshness. Final of a very nice length.

• Vintage 2014 - 92/100

On the nose, the red fruits dominate with freshness and are accompanied by fine notes of mushroom and undergrowth. On the palate, it is ample, well structured with a beautiful aromatic expression. The tannins are fine and supported by a fine acidity. Final where the fruit is expressed with a nice length.

• Vintage 2012 - 92/100

Elegant and racy nose, on red fruits, cocoa, undergrowth and mushrooms. In the mouth, there is volume, balance with a beautiful structure. The tannins are supple and elegant. Finish of a very pleasant length. Available today.
